Our little Emma is now 6 weeks old! She is 56 cm and 4,7 kilos. Every day that passes I see so much change and growth in her. I can't believe how fast she is learning! Here are some fun facts and traits our little one has:
-just before she falls into deep sleep, she sleeps with one eye slightly open. I like to call her one eyed Emma.
-she definitely knows who I am and that she wants me! I love it. Other people can hold her though and she doesn't throw a fit or anything... But she definitely prefers me ;)
-when people meet Emma they always say how impressed they are by how strong her neck is, and how alert she is. A common phrase I hear, "are you sure she is only 6 weeks old??"
-her hair cracks me up. Or lack of hair... She is basically bald on the top of her head, and on the left side of her head. On the right side of her head she never lost that newborn hair. So half of her head has hair and half of it doesn't.
-she still holds her hands while she eats, or is touching her face
-she has long and skinny feet. Socks only fit length wise but not width.
-if swaddled, she can fall asleep in her crib on her own... Majority of the time ;)
-if i stick out my tongue she watches me super intently and imitates me by sticking hers out back to me.
A couple things I have learned these past few weeks while being a new mom:
I had no idea babies spit up THAT much. I mean, I always heard you go through and do tons of laundry once you have a baby but my goodness! I have never seen so much puke in my life! Good thing it is just breast milk and doesn't smell too bad I guess.
There is nothing more stressful and exhausting than a screaming and upset baby. And, there is nothing more peaceful, beautiful, and spiritual than a happy and content sleeping baby. Plus, waking up to a smiling baby every morning is the best and most fulfilling feeling in the world.
Swaddling my baby is AWESOME. I cant believe how much better she sleeps! It use to take me an hour or more to get her to fall asleep because she kept twitching and waking herself up.. It was driving me crazy. I am so excited that we found a solution :)
It has been an adjustment for me getting use to Emma needing me all the time. I am the only one who can comfort her, and that is hard yet very special at the same time. I do love that I am the one who comforts her though :)
Here are some recent pictures from my phone, enjoy!
First time back to church
I feel so blessed to wake up to this face every day!
Joel was chatting with Emma when I caught Cheeto creepin and being jealous.
My sis Aj holding Emma. So glad she was able to come over for a week and a half!
Milk drunk.
We found some baby sunglasses and i about died they were so cute.
Spending a lot of time in the breastfeeding room in the mall.
The left and right side of her head. Makes me laugh so hard.
This is all we did for a week and a half.
Did I mention much I love this face?
Annie chopped 15 inches or 40 cm off my hair. I have never had short-haired before, so this was quite the change for me. So far I am still loving it!
My parents were able to come a few days after Emma was born. I am so glad they did because I sure needed them... Especially since my stitches came apart and i was in a lot of pain for quite some time. I will forever be grateful that they came over and helped us so much.
2 notes:
